Taking a bath is the best way to clean one’s self. It should be a part of our daily grooming regimen to make us smell fresh and feel confident all day long. However, getting in the shower and just standing under the hot water for a couple of minutes may not get rid of the deep-seated dirt, sweat and bacteria that make us feel greasy and smell nasty. Here are tips on how to shower properly and wash away grime and potentially dangerous microorganisms from our body effectively.
Get the water right. Shower in water temperature that is comfortable to you. Water that is too cold may make you finish off immediately while hot water may scald your skin without you even knowing it. Use your wrist to test the water as it is a more accurate gauge of temperature than your fingers. Stand under the shower and turn around to wet your body completely, from head to toe.
Start with your head. While under the shower, stroke your hair with your fingers to rinse off loose dirt and dust. Lather a small amount of shampoo into your hair and scalp. Avoid using too much shampoo as it can strip your hair and scalp of healthy levels natural oils. Thoroughly rinse all of the shampoo out of your hair. You may also apply conditioner, gently massaging it onto your scalp to the ends of your hair. Rinse it out completely. Shampoo and conditioner residue can buildup and cause dandruff and other scalp infections.
Wash your face. Apply a small amount of facial cleanser or exfoliating scrub to your face. Gently massage with your fingers for at least 30 seconds, rubbing the lather on your cheeks, nose, chin, forehead, and neck. Avoid getting the product into your eyes. Rinse your face and neck thoroughly.
Wash your body. Rub your bar soap or apply a small amount of body wash to your washcloth, shower poof, body sponge, or just your hands and form lather. Use the lather to wash your body starting at your neck, behind the ears, shoulders, under your arms, back and work your way down to your legs feet and toes. Wash your private parts and bottom last. Rinse off the soap completely while under the shower.
Dry off with a clean towel. Gently pat the towel to dry your face, head, torso, abdominal area, pelvic region, legs, your private areas, and feet. Make sure that your are completely dry, particularly your armpits, groin area and feet. Leaving these parts moist encourages the growth of bacteria.
Apply hygiene products. Now that your are completely dry is the best time to apply deodorant, intimate care product, body lotion or other grooming products.
Dress up in clean clothes. Showering is useless when you’ll just wear soiled undies and clothes after. Only wear clean undergarments and clothing after a bath to make you look, feel and smell clean all day long!
